Women’s Health

From their early teens to their post-menopausal years, women are faced with a range of unique health care needs and concerns that require special care. At Central Care Clinic, we offer comprehensive women’s healthcare services with an emphasis on prevention, education and a lifetime of optimal health and wellness. Our team of providers is here to help you identify and understand your needs and develop an appropriate treatment plan with compassionate, supportive care at any stage of womanhood.

Our Women’s Health Services Include:

Annual Physicals and Screenings

For women, an annual health physical is an opportunity to discuss contraception, intimacy and sexual health, and any other wellness questions you may have, such as weight, blood pressure and more. The screening tests that we offer at Central Care Clinic are generally dependent on your age, but can include:

  • Pap smears: recommended once every three years for women ages 21 to 65 or more often depending on history
  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis or Osteopenia
  • Thyroid hormone deficiency
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Meningitis vaccine (Menactra)

Your annual physical is an essential time to discuss your personal and family medical history with your provider, as this can factor into the age at which the screenings should begin and how often they occur. We also ensure you are up to date on vaccinations and immunizations for various viral infections, such as:

  • Influenza
  • Hepatitis
  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

Contraceptive Services

Central Care Clinic offers comprehensive oral contraceptive services for women, or birth control options. During your appointment at our office, you will have the opportunity to explore your birth control options and discuss any questions you have about the different forms of birth control. Unfortunately, we are unable to prescribe emergency contraception such as Plan-B (the “morning-after pill”) or Ella at this time.

Menopause

A woman’s body is continually changing her life, and like it or not, menopause is a part of every woman’s life. Our team can help you understand these changes, ease your symptoms and provide guidance through the physical and emotional effects of this transition. Treatment plans are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and tailored to your unique symptoms and concerns.

Menopause, the ceasing of menstruation, happens over a period of years as the body halts the production of reproductive hormones. This typically occurs when a woman reaches her forties or fifties, though the average age of menopause is 51. The early stages of menopause, referred to as perimenopause, begin with irregular periods. This may mean your cycle skips a month or even several months before having a period again. Menopause is officially diagnosed when you haven’t had a period for 12 months. Central Care Clinic can help you to relieve unpleasant symptoms of menopause, such as:

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is among the most common hormonal problems that affect female adolescents and women worldwide and is the most frequent cause of infertility in women. At Central Care Clinic, our team of providers can help you to diagnose, treat and control your PCOS symptoms to manage this chronic condition. PCOS Diagnosis is based on the presence of the following symptoms:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual periods
  • Acne
  • Weight gain
  • An excess of androgen hormones, which causes excess facial and body hair
  • Small ovarian cysts
  • High cholesterol and high blood pressure
  • Insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
  • Thinning hair

While treatable, PCOS is a chronic condition that tends to run in families. Your PCOS treatment may include medications that restore menstrual cycles, lessen insulin resistance and reduces excess hair growth. Women can also receive assistance with lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

PMS refers to a combination of emotional and physical symptoms that many women experience in the weeks before their menstrual cycle. While over 90 percent of women say they experience PMS symptoms such as bloating, moodiness or headaches, for some women, these symptoms are so severe they miss work or school. If PMS is interfering with your quality of life, our providers can help you to find ways to ease your symptoms.

At Central Care Clinic, we will likely diagnose PMS during a clinic visit after evaluating your symptoms, running diagnostic testing and taking a full medical history of you and your family. We may ask you to record your symptoms along with your cycle start and end date for two or more cycles to establish any patterns that arise during certain stages of your period.

Pregnancy Tests

At Central Care Clinic, our office can perform both urine and blood pregnancy tests and provide on-site lab testing to get you your results back quickly an. Our providers can answer any of your questions, provide support and offer referrals to obstetricians for prenatal care as appropriate for your needs.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

STDs, also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are diagnosed in over nine million women in the United States each year. STDs are typically spread by having vaginal, oral or anal intercourse. Women with STDs often suffer more severe health problems than men, including infertility, so it is of the utmost importance to get tested regularly.

Central Care Clinic can perform screenings for STDs and inform you which test or tests you may need to have done. STD testing may include a pelvic or physical exam, a blood or urine test, or a tissue or fluid sample to determine if there is an infection and provide the appropriate treatment.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Central Care Clinic can evaluate symptoms and diagnose UTIs, bladder infections and kidney infections. We perform on-site urine testing and send for a urine culture to determine which bacteria are causing the disease to ensure you receive the appropriate treatment. We can provide prescription medications to begin your recovery as soon as possible.

Yeast Infections

If you suspect you may have a yeast infection, it is vital to see a medical provider. Central Care Clinic can help women who think they may have a vaginal infection, including yeast and bacterial infections. We can perform lab testing and provide prescription medications to eliminate your infection quickly and alleviate your symptoms. There are several other women’s gynecological issues we care for, and we are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have during your appointment at our office. If there is a condition or concern we are unable to treat, Central Care Clinic will gladly refer you to the appropriate medical specialist to ensure you get the care you need.
