Our Men’s Health Services Include:

Annual Physicals and Screenings

For men, regular or annual checkups with a health care provider is an essential part of staying on top of your health. Whether you have a specific health concern or illness or require a routine exam, Central Care Clinic is here to answer any questions you may have and provide comprehensive services for the diagnosis and management of acute or chronic conditions. The screening tests that we offer men at Central Care Clinic are generally dependent on your age, but can include:

  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Colon Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Immunizations
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Sexual health
  • Testicular Cancer

Prioritizing yearly visits with your primary care physician is the best preventative measure you can take for maintaining your health and vitality. If caught early, many severe health conditions that affect men, such as prediabetes, diabetes, heart disease or prostate cancer can be successfully treated or managed if caught in their early stages.

Diabetes is a common life-long condition in which your body does not produce or absorb insulin correctly to manage the level of sugar in your blood. Unmanaged type 1 or type 2 diabetes can lead to many troublesome health conditions, including impaired vision, heart problems and disease, digestive issues, kidney and nerve damage, amputation and more. Early symptoms of diabetes in men can include:

  • Erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Reduced muscle mass
  • Increased feelings of thirst
  • Increased feelings of hunger
  • Blurred vision
  • Fatigue
  • Increased urination frequency

If you suspect you have diabetes or may be at risk, Central Care Clinic can perform diagnostic blood tests to measure your glucose levels. Once diagnosed, your course of treatment may include insulin medication, weight management, exercise and dietary changes. Our providers can also teach you how to monitor your glucose levels with a glucose meter at home for simple management.

Low Testosterone

Many men experience lowered testosterone levels, or hypogonadism, as they age. In fact, it is estimated that as many as five million American men have low testosterone. These low levels, whether caused by aging or another underlying condition, can be accompanied by several other unpleasant symptoms, including:

  • Low sex drive
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Loss of bone density
  • Depression
  • Low sperm count
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Infertility

There are many treatments available today to get your hormone levels back within an optimal range, and personalized, long-term testosterone therapy has been proven to increase libido and energy, improve bone density, stabilize mood and regulate body fat and muscle mass. If you suspect you may have low testosterone, Central Care Clinic can provide diagnostic tests as well as testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to help alleviate symptoms and restore your vitality and quality of life.

Prostate Exams

According to data from the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men. It is estimated that one out of every six men will develop prostate cancer, with two out of every three cancers found in men over the age of 65. Early detection of prostate cancer is vital; however, prostate cancer often does not cause any symptoms until its later stages when it is more challenging to treat. Risk factors of prostate cancer include:

  • Family history
  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Ethnicity (prostate cancer is more prevalent amongst African-American males)

At Central Care Clinic, we offer prostate exams and cancer screenings and recommend our male patients receive these tests annually. We will discuss your family health history and risk factors to determine when your yearly exam is necessary, as risk increases with age. If detected in the early stages, prostate cancer is often treated successfully.

Sexual Health

Sex is an essential aspect of life for men and women alike. Sexual health refers to a state of well-being that allows a man to participate in and enjoy sexual activities with their partner fully. Optimal sexual health for men includes a healthy amount of sexual desire, or libido, as well as the ability to get and sustain an erection. While many chronic diseases and conditions can affect both the desire to have sex and the ability to have sex, mental health, emotional and interpersonal factors can also play essential roles in your sexual wellness.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) refers to the inability to get an erection or maintain it long enough for satisfying sexual activity for you and your partner. ED can be caused by many underlying conditions and can even be an early warning sign of more serious health concerns such as heart disease, depression or low testosterone. At Central Care Clinic, our providers will carefully assess your sexual concerns and symptoms to identify the cause to establish a treatment plan that will restore your sexual health and well-being.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

Many men wrongly assume that if they had an STD, they would know it. Though many sexually transmitted diseases do display symptoms, they can often be mistaken for another health concern or sometimes show no symptoms at all, especially in men. Understanding the risk of STDs, along with their signs and symptoms, are crucial for any sexually active man.

At Central Care Clinic, we can perform screenings for STDs and inform you which test or tests you may need to have done. STD testing may include a pelvic or physical exam, a blood or urine test, or a tissue or fluid sample to determine if there is an infection and provide the appropriate treatment.
